Counselling & Psychotherapy Services

Sometimes we can help ourselves. Other times we cannot cope and risk feeling even more anxious, depressed, hopeless or confused.  This can affect our well-being, relationships, work and even our health. Unfortunately, in the middle of a crisis, many believe they should be able to work their way through it unaided. You and I will work together to help you find an alternative management and coping strategy to the one you are currently using.

We will explore your issues, anxiety, distress or other things that may be bothering you. We will explore ways to help you lead a more satisfying life.

Bereavement/Loss

Losing someone important to us can be emotionally devastating - whether that be a partner, family member, friend or pet.

Anger Management

Without anger management, your outbursts of hostility may eventually have catastrophic consequences.

Depression

It can affect all aspects of life, including relationships with family, friends and community. It can result from or lead to problems at school and at work.

Low Self Esteem

Lacking confidence about who you are and what you can do. You often feel incompetent, unloved, or inadequate.

Stress/Trauma

Stress is how we react when we feel under pressure or threatened. It usually happens when we are in a situation that we don't feel we can manage or control.

Addiction

Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use despite adverse consequences.

Self Harm

Deliberately hurting your own body, such as cutting or burning, is a harmful way to cope with emotional pain or intense anger

Relationship & Family issues

Challenges may include infidelity, loss of intimacy, communication difficulties, coping with stress challenges, financial pressures, boundary violations, difficulty balancing individual and couple expectations, divorce, separation and breaking up.

Work related issues

Job dissatisfaction, workplace injury, stress, discrimination and bullying, violence, accidental death, retirement, retrenchment and unemployment.

Counselling Methods

I have trained in a number of Counselling methods and I combine these in different measures for each and every client in a format designed to give the best results.

You are the expert on your own life so we will only progress at a pace that is right for you. Whatever approach or combination of approaches is best for you, you can be sure you will receive a warm and professional service. You will be fully supported and never judged. You will not feel rushed or pushed out of your depth.

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike.

But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.
